(NEXSTAR) — This week, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced screen legend Tom Cruise would receive an honorary Oscar at the Academy’s 16th Governor’s Awards next year.

The actor, 62, was selected for his decades of work in Risky Business, two Top Gun movies and several other films like the Mission: Impossible franchise.

The quartet will be celebrated at the Academy's Governors Awards on Sunday, Nov. 16.
