NHL Insider Frank Seravalli expects Bennett’s contract to be approximately 8 years at $7.5 million annually. This figure feels a touch low given Bennett is coming off a Conn Smythe-caliber effort. It also means the Panthers have a legitimate shot at bringing him back.

After completing his four-year, $17.7 million contract, Bennett will enter unrestricted free agency on July 1, barring an agreement for a contract extension with Florida before that date. According to NHL insider Andy Strickland, however, the Conn Smythe-winning forward has no plans to sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs if he gets to market.
